⑩ INSTAGRAM

Click here on the post written by me, to understand what Instagram is, how it affects our lives and the purposes to why I want to work with it.

As said in the posts I have previously written, I am going to personify a popular Instagram user to explore the relationship teenagers have with their image in social media and to also analyse how many limits I will need to exceed to reach the so desired perfection.

In this following Powerpoint presentation, you can find a collection of Instagram feeds I have found that meet all the “requirements” for perfect photographs. It was a very long research to understand all the processes and elements needed to achieve “all everybody wants”. Before looking at each slide there is a key page labelling and explaining the methods mostly used by Instagramers, then I placed the symbols corresponding to each slide and it can also be noticed that those methods are very repetitive as everyone uses it with the same purpose.

After researching it and creating a façade Instagram feed, I have decided to create a short video, that indeed ended up being quite long, to record everything I needed to do when taking a creative photograph to gain likes. The short video also highlights many of my editing skills as I edited a step by step/guide video; I used tools such as images/records transitions, different custom speeds, image/record colour and quality adjustments, and most importantly I have made the video as if I was an Youtuber too, I used a very typical song you find on step-by-step or DIY’s videos on youtube. I was also going to speak over the video whilst it played, like Youtubers do, however because in most of the video I have fasted forward (otherwise the video would have taken hours) I would not be able to fully describe it and my house is really noisy, so recording it in a silence place would be a problem.

It is also very important to know, that I am over personifying an Instagramer, therefore some things and very exaggerated to catch an impactive attention and to also highlight how fake it all is.

Here is the short video (6:50 minutes)
